I was born in Cyprus. I have lived in Cyprus, Greece and England. I come from a very traditional family and my parents took me and my siblings to church every Sunday. I was tired and bored, and to pass the time, I looked and criticised everyone’s looks with a special focus on their footwear. I truly hope I don’t burn in hell for this and that Fashion Police comes and throws me into Shoe Heaven (preferably the one in Harrods).
My professional background and studies is in languages and translation. Through my translation career I have worked with several brands such as Rolex, Dior, and Hermès primarily producing Greek content for their social media and email marketing campaigns, TV ads, websites and ecommerce sites. (by the way if you want to know more about my translation work, click here)
My parents didn't just send me to church. They also sent me to Art and Dance School every Saturday. Yes, I spent every Saturday morning, for at least 10 years, sketching, drawing, and painting. Anything, from buildings and still life, to portraits and sculptures, followed by dancing Ballroom and International Latin as well as Greek folklore. I learnt to be disciplined, I studied the human form, incorporated rhythm and trained my eye to details, proportions and acquired an endless need to constantly improve what I saw in front of me and around me. Yes, of course, I am a recovering perfectionist. How could I not be?
I always somehow knew how to dress myself, but also others. My mother’s friends always asked me to help them with their outfits for events, birthdays, evening outings, holidays and more. And I was a child.
It only came to me later in life that this is probably my gift. Knowing what looks good was a given to me, until it was pointed out to me repeatedly by others that what I do is not common or given at all. How many times has someone taken a picture of you and the picture sucks? And then someone else takes the photo, and it looks just incredible?
Well, that’s what I do. I make everything look good.
